Updated October 22, 2026. San Diego CityPASS offers one of Southern California’s more interesting family-planning decisions: visit SeaWorld San Diego, LEGOLAND California, or build a longer trip around both. The right package depends on ages, location, available days and which other attractions your group will actually visit.
What the current San Diego CityPASS covers
The official 2026–27 CityPASS product guide describes combinations that include SeaWorld or LEGOLAND or both, plus three selectable attractions. Among those choices are San Diego Zoo or Safari Park (choose one), USS Midway Museum, City Cruises, Birch Aquarium at Scripps, Old Town Trolley Tours, and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Check the live product details because availability and conditions can vary.
SeaWorld or LEGOLAND?
Choose SeaWorld for a San Diego-centered itinerary
SeaWorld sits within San Diego, making it a potentially sensible anchor when staying around Mission Bay, central San Diego or elsewhere in the city. Allow enough time for the visit, and do not assume every seasonal event or premium experience is part of basic admission.
Choose LEGOLAND for a Carlsbad-based trip
LEGOLAND California Resort is in Carlsbad, north of San Diego. If LEGOLAND is your main attraction, compare the cost and convenience of staying farther north against returning to downtown every night. The official CityPASS page lists LEGOLAND among attractions that require reservations.
Choose both only if your schedule supports both
Trying to combine two major theme-park days with the Zoo, a harbor outing and museum visits may exhaust younger travelers. A longer trip, with rest time and a realistic hotel location, makes the combined version more useful.
A five-day San Diego itinerary without rushing
- Day 1: Arrive, settle into a hotel, explore the waterfront and confirm mobile tickets and reservations.
- Day 2: Visit SeaWorld if included; keep this primarily a single-attraction day.
- Day 3: Choose San Diego Zoo or Safari Park. These are different locations, so select based on your travel plans and available transportation.
- Day 4: If included, visit LEGOLAND in Carlsbad; otherwise enjoy one of the selectable San Diego attractions.
- Day 5: Use a museum, City Cruises or trolley admission where included, subject to schedules and advance-booking requirements.
Reservations and the nine-day window
The current product’s official rules describe a nine-consecutive-day validity period after initial use or an eligible reservation. The CityPASS site lists reservation requirements for LEGOLAND and City Cruises. Check those before purchasing flights or hotel stays, especially during holiday periods.
How to book the surrounding trip
Explore San Diego passes on OptionTrip, compare hotels around the attractions you prioritize, and compare car rental options if combining Carlsbad with central San Diego. Distances, parking fees and final admission costs can be more important than the largest advertised savings percentage.
Frequently asked questions
Can San Diego CityPASS include the Zoo and Safari Park?
The current choice list presents Zoo or Safari Park as one option, not automatic admission to both.
Does CityPASS include every Halloween or holiday activity?
Not necessarily. Special events may require separate tickets or dates. Confirm the event and its ticket terms with the attraction.
What if I visit just one theme park?
Choose the single-park package that suits your group, then compare its final checkout cost against standalone admissions for the other included attractions.
