What happened
Regional news outlets report that recent attacks claimed by Yemen’s Houthi movement have prompted travel alerts and widespread disruption at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on Oct. 8, 2026. The incidents have led to flight delays, hundreds of schedule changes and multiple cancellations.
Who has been affected
Coverage names a range of international and regional carriers that have paused or cancelled services to Riyadh. Reports cite more than 150 cancelled flights and say almost half of departures were affected at one point. Specific carriers reported suspending services include Lufthansa, Air India and IndiGo; Philippine Airlines is also reported to have cancelled Riyadh flights. Gulf and UAE carriers were among those adjusting schedules.
Why travelers should care
Passengers booked to depart from, arrive into, or connect through Riyadh may face sudden cancellations, long delays or re-routing. Disruptions can affect onward connections across the Middle East and beyond, and could complicate same‑day travel plans and international connections.
What to check next
If you have travel planned to or through Riyadh, check your airline’s official status notice and your booking reference before heading to the airport. Also monitor King Khalid International Airport advisories and any government travel guidance for your country. Contact your carrier or travel provider about rebooking, refunds or protections under its policy.
Practical tips
Expect longer wait times for customer service and consider flexible plans: keep documents and changes accessible, allow extra time for connections, and review travel insurance coverage. Authorities and carriers may issue further updates as the situation develops.
Situation updates are evolving. Travelers should rely on official airline and airport communications for the latest confirmed information.
